Treasure Tree
Pre - School Animated TV Series Development
'Treasure Tree' is pitched as a 3D animated Pre-School comedy adventure show developed by Cat Little (Wobblyland, Nick Jr.) and myself. As well as creating the series with Cat, I took the role as Series Designer producing all the development artwork for the pitch bible.
The show is about a family of magical glowing creatures who live in a 'Treasure Tree' in a city park. Local children leave 'little treasures' on the tree for the creatures to bring life to play out adventures with. At night, the creatures put on a bedtime story light show, based on that day's adventures, for all the children near the park to see.
The target audience for the series is pitched at 2 - 4 years. This is an age group both Cat and myself have experience producing content for, as Cat created a series called 'Wobblyland' made for Nick Jr. back in the mid 2000's. I was lead animator on that series and have worked with Cat on a lot of series development since then.

The Key Concept Art image produced for the shows 'pitch bible'. The show has been pitched to numerous broadcasters including CBeebies. This artwork was created in Photoshop but heavily rendered to provide the look of a CGI animated TV Show.

'Story Key' pencil drawings of the 'Glow Buds'. These story book drawings where used as accompanying illustrations for the early story treatments found in the 'pitch' bible.

Concept art for the ' Glow Buds' bedtime story light-show. By bedtime the tree is full of lights like a giant night light at the centre of the city's park. This 'light-show' would cap each episode with the 'Glow Buds' projecting a light-show of their latest adventures upwards into the night sky for the children back home to enjoy from their bedroom windows.

The logo design for 'Treasure Tree' highlights the role of light and night lights in the show. Each character is made up a simple neon colour found in night lights giving a distinct identity to each character but also working in harmony with one another.

The very first piece of concept art I created for the series. For a long time, we had discussions around the concept of the show using this image as inspiration for those conversations. As you see, the 'Glow Buds' had a lost and found quality, with the characters arms made out of extendable hose pipes, while other characters had 'washing machine' bellies or were inflatable like balloons.
For a taste of Cat Little's 'Wobblyland' (Nick Jr.), on which I was lead animator and completed some design work on such characters as the 'Murps', you can watch an episode here - https://youtu.be/-XqlhKvWYx0
